Historique :	La statue du général Hoche (1768-1797), sculptée par Aimé Jules Dalou (1838-1902) et fondue par Barbedienne, fut érigée grâce à une souscription nationale lancée par les Bleux de Bretagne des villes de Quiberon et Lorient. Elle fut inaugurée en 1902 par M. Pelletan, ministre de la Marine, assisté des autorités civiles et militaires du Morbihan. La statue a été la cible de deux attentats, en 1972 et en 1978, revendiqués par le Front de Libération de la Bretagne.
